The Rich Hours of Fougères
Welcome to the magnificent town of Fougères, where the medieval past comes to life every two years during the Fougères Rich Hours Festival. You are invited to participate during two days to a unique journey through time, transported to a time when valiant knights, elegant ladies and talented troubadours animated the cobbled streets of this historic city.
Get ready to live an immersive and unforgettable experience in the heart of the Middle Ages!
An exceptional event at the gates of Brittany
Taking the place of Saturday 17 au Sunday 18 June de 10 a.m. to 18 p.m., the Fougères medieval festival is much more than a simple historical re-enactment. It is a real live show that transports visitors to a bygone era. Every two years the city is transformed into an authentic setting of yesteryear. Skilled craftsmen recreate ancient crafts, dancers join you in dancing to catchy melodies, amazing jugglers perform breathtaking acrobatics, and numerous knight tournaments are held.
Colorful and detailed costumes will add a touch of authenticity, allowing you to feel truly immersed in medieval times.
Activities not to be missed
Entrance to the site costs 6€ and is free for children under 6. It can be done at the following places: rue de la Pinterie, rue le Bouteiller or on the place du Marchix. Once you have your ticket in your pocket, you can enjoy a multitude of activities for all tastes and all ages.
Fougeres Castle
Au castle, attend thrilling fights, where the knights fight for glory and honor. See demonstrations of trebuchets, ancient war machines once used to destroy walls and test your dexterity during the training of crossbow shooting.
The company of the Lions of Flanders will give performances over the two days of festivity. Faithful to the techniques and rules of the time, you will be able to observe and appreciate these warriors of yesteryear engaging in stunning demonstrations of force.
Pinterie Gardens
Take advantage of the calm of the gardens to contemplate demonstrations of embroidery as well as calligraphy, but also to immerse yourself in the distant know-how of leather work, and even shoe. Games will be organized for kids where they can put their imagination and creativity to the test when creating houses out of cob, a natural building material.
St-Sulpice Church
Around the church a medieval market will be organized. Open on Saturday until 22 p.m., the input will be for free. You can then take advantage of its 70 artisans and its authentic atmosphere of the Middle Ages with its wooden stalls, its colorful banners and its merchants dressed in period costumes. This market will be an opportunity to stock up on local products, in addition to discovering new recipes. Many craftsmen will come to show you their arts, it will be a unique opportunity to see them work and appreciate the beauty of their creations. Everything will be accompanied by a Celtic and medieval musical atmosphere for complete immersion.
For the pleasure of both children and adults, a puppet show signed the prank company will deliver performances up to three times per day. During the latter, you will be able to attend a show like no other, which will take you into a universe that is as pleasant as it is captivating.
Culinary discovery
In addition to entertaining activities, the Riches Heures de Fougères offer you delicious culinary experiences.
