Your itinerary
Step 1: MELLE – Le Manoir de la Vairie
The construction of this manor most probably dates back to the end of the XNUMXth century. Admire its polygonal tower housing a granite spiral staircase, and imagine someone once peering into the room on the ground floor through the peephole in the room above! The old chapel is located to the northeast, outside the enclosure of the manor. It has now become a dwelling. On the road that takes you to Parigné, you pass near the Landemarais bog, a natural area of national interest.
Stage 2: PARIGNE, Château du Bois Guy
This 1993th century castle underwent a complete restoration in 18 to become a hotel-restaurant. The property includes a main building with a chapel and two large buildings where historic charm and modernity combine. The estate extends over more than XNUMX hectares where the animals live in the middle of nature. An ideal place for a lunch break.
Step 3: VILLAMEE, the village
You pass near Villamée. Do not hesitate to leave the circuit to discover this charming village. The church and its porch are worth the detour! They are also the subject of a registration as a Historic Monument since 1926.
Step 4: LE FERRE, The old mill
Do not hesitate to get off your bike in this charming place, the descent to Le Beuvron is steep! Many traditional flour mills and a few paper mills on the rivers have been identified in our towns, some dating from the Middle Ages. It was common for a dwelling house or a small farm to be coupled to the mill and its wheel. A major wave of modernization of mills at the beginning of the XNUMXth century saw the replacement of water wheels by turbines and the transformation of traditional mills into flour mills. Almost all the mills stopped working after the Second World War.
Stage 5: ST GEORGES DE REINTEMBAULT, Colas Park
During your crossing of the village of Saint-Georges-de-Reintembault, do not miss to admire the architectural richness of this town labeled Commune du Patrimoine Rural de Bretagne. Give yourself a break before your return to Mellé! You will find various facilities in this park, including outdoor games for children, in a green and semi-enclosed setting, near a stream passing under the mill.
