Step 1: The Saint-Ouen parish church
The Saint-Ouen parish church is made up of three clearly identifiable groups. A choir and a sacristy lower than the rest of the building dating from the 17th century and a nave built in 1843. Built in gray granite cut stones, the square bell tower stands out from the rest.
Step 2: The Couesnon valley
Managed by the Department since 1982, the Couesnon valley is a remarkable natural space of exceptional quality and diversity. Its wooded slopes, meadows and wetlands are the refuge of a multitude of birds, insects and amphibians. Colonies of bats have taken up residence there.
Step 3: The historic Minette aqueduct
The historic Minette aqueduct, 42 km long, supplied the city of Rennes with drinking water until 2012. Initiated by the architect Martenot in 1882, it was built in masonry in less than two years, thanks to to the efforts of 2 workers. A true technical feat for the time, it only used the natural slope with a difference in height of one millimeter per meter. After more than a century of operation, the aqueduct was replaced by a new pipe made of cast iron pipes, 000 cm in diameter. Until 70, the Minette was the only source of water supply for the city of Rennes.
Step 4: The Touserie cross
The Touserie cross is one of the twenty crosses recorded in Saint-Ouen. Mission crosses, pilgrimage crosses, the most numerous are the commemorative crosses, erected in gratitude for the smooth running of an event. They are often located at crossroads, sometimes near homes or along paths.
Step 5: The old boys' school and town hall
Rue du Général de Gaulle retains several buildings of character. At No. 39, the old boys' school and town hall and at No. 2 the old presbytery, one of the most remarkable buildings housing the current town hall.
