Le Château de la Rouërie between Chouannerie and the War of Independence

Here we are in Saint-Ouen-La -Rouërie (Val -Couesnon), at the crossroads between Brittany and Normandy, stands the Château de la Rouërie. Built in the XNUMXth century and remodeled in the XNUMXth century by the Tuffin de la Rouërie family, it is currently listed Historical Monument.

We strongly advise you to take a guided tour. You will be able to discover all the history of the Marquis de la Rouerie, hero of the American Revolutionary War and defender of breton freedoms when Chouannerie.
During this guided tour you will be able to enter the furnished rooms of the Château de la Rouerie reflecting the time of the XNUMXth century and retracing the battles of the War of Independence of the United States thanks to period decorations and various models.
Outside, the park of the Château presents a French garden front side, as well as a English garden Western coast. Do not miss to contemplate the superb century old trees, notably the tulip tree brought from the United States in 1784.
