Exposition – L’Avenir, une coopérative granitière

Monday May 13
1 rue de Pontorson Antrain Maison des Patrimoines 35560 Val-Couesnon
New exhibition at the Maison des Patrimoines, made available by the Departmental Archives of Ille et Vilaine.

The exhibition focuses on the granite industry of the Pays de Fougères through the example of a cooperative: L'Avenir, from Louvigné-du-Désert.

The “L’Avenir” cooperative, founded by Jean Patin in 1921, became the second largest granite company in Brittany in the 50s.
The cooperative is above all a model and precursor at the social and union level.

The exhibition aims to demonstrate the know-how of quarrymen, the traditions, developments and innovations of the profession.
It is also about the working and living conditions of granite workers, living spaces and sociability, the social model which consists of developing an industry in rural areas, all along the ore vein.

Exhibition open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 13:30 p.m. and from 14:30 p.m. to 17 p.m. (closed on public holidays).
All public and free.
Visit possible by reservation for groups.
