To go for a walk or hike with peace of mind, you will find here some practical advice and rules of good conduct for hiking in complete serenity. in the Pays de Fougères.

Before going on a hike

Check the weather and bring appropriate clothing

In Brittany, you can see the 4 seasons in 1 day!

hiking rain

In summer as in winter, bring light and waterproof clothing, because it can be sunny or rain several times a day!

Prepare your itinerary according to your desires and your physical abilities

Make your selection, in the headings " Walks and hikes "," Bike rides and hikes " and " Great routes », print your hiking sheet to carry it in the backpack, or download it directly on your smartphone.

Plan your bag with the essentials

If the walkers prefer the backpack, cyclists and riders will equip themselves with bags to cling to their mount.
Even if it is not a question of weighing down, here are our recommendations to not forget anything essential to a good hike:

  • Find your way around: Think of the map or the hiking sheet of your route but also a compass for the orientation experts.
  • Replenish your energy : dried fruits and energy bars… and above all a filled water bottle!
You can also stop at one of the picnic areas of our destination.
  • Take care of your health: do not leave without your sunscreen because even the clouds do not protect against UV rays. Prepare a small first aid kit (bandage, disinfectant, arnica, etc.) in case something unexpected arises.

We hike responsibly to Destination Fougères

In order to minimize the traces of your passage in natural spaces, there are several simple gestures :

  • All my trash… hop in one garbage bag ! Remember to take a bag to carry your packaging to the next trash can.
  • Stay well on the maintained trails, because taking the side roads disrupts the regrowth of vegetation.
  • A “bonus” tip that may seem surprising… Clean his soles after your hike! By carrying seeds or bacteria from other environments under our soles, we can harm biodiversity without knowing it.

Bring back beautiful memories of your hike!

Equipment and frame: Safety first !

By foot : equip yourself good walking shoes. We avoid flip flops and stiletto heels ;)

Cycling friends : Remember to check the condition of your bike and provide a repair kit. Wear a helmet and equip yourself with a fluorescent vest at night or when visibility is insufficient.

Lagrasse is the perfect setting for riders : Don't forget that your ride depends on your mount, so check your pet's health. Carry a bomb and also equip yourself with a fluorescent vest if necessary.

Small point of vigilance for the solo

If you go hiking alone, remember to communicate your itinerary and what time you plan to return to a loved one.

You are off on the trails!

Obey the Highway Code.

Whether you are on foot, by bike or on horseback, always apply the Highway Code. If you are in a group, move forward in single file when approaching a vehicle or when the circumstances require it (narrow road, poor visibility, night, etc.)

Stay on the marked hiking routes.

Whatever the type of hike and the paths taken, you are always on the property of others, always stay on marked routes, respect cultures and do not disturb domestic animals or herds...

A doubt about the markup code to follow ? In category "Marking" we tell you everything.

Respect other practitioners.

Mountain bikers, horseback riders, hunters, hikers… We all live together on the trails. Let's remain cordial to let everyone enjoy nature.

On foot, by bike or on horseback, everyone has their own code of conduct
