The spring of women and girls?

The “Springtime for Women and Girls” is a social and political event launched ten years ago in Fougères with the main objective of promoting gender equality and combating discrimination against women and girls. This movement was born out of growing awareness of the gender inequalities that exist in many areas, including access to education, participation in political life, gender-based violence, sexual harassment, wage inequalities, access to health care, media representation, etc.

But by the way, why on March 8

International Women's Day is celebrated every year on March 8 in many countries around the world. This day was established to highlight the achievements of women in the fight for gender equality, social justice and women's rights. The choice of this date dates back to 1910, when an international women's conference was held in Copenhagen, Denmark. This conference, which brought together more than 100 women from 17 different countries, was organized by Clara Zetkin, a German women's rights activist and member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany.

During this conference, a proposal was made to create an international day for women, in order to promote their rights and support their participation in political and economic life. March 8 was chosen as a symbolic date, in memory of a women's demonstration held in New York in 1908, when thousands of women marched through the streets demanding better working conditions, equality wages and the right to vote. Since then, March 8 has become a day of mobilization and awareness of women's rights around the world, where many organizations and activists organize events to celebrate women's achievements and highlight the challenges that remain.

To men, all their rights and nothing more. To women, all their rights and nothing less
